Zoozsh up your wardrobe for the new year

2019 is upon us and before we know it, the holidays will be over and we’ll be back into work. To make going back a little more bearable, consider how you’ll update your wardrobe for the new year.

Invest in some new shoes. Try a style you wouldn’t normally – think an espadrille or a kitten heel – to give your look a bit of pizzazz that’s still work-appropriate. Shoes are a good way to add a hint of colour to your wardrobe, too, so perhaps opt for a pink pair of pumps to shake things up from your usual black. Tan shoes are very on trend but still remain neutral and smart enough for any office.

Swap your yellow gold and silver jewellery for some rose gold. This hue is hot at the moment and there are gorgeous, affordable pieces that will subtly update your style. Don’t limit this metallic to jewellery - touches of hardware on your handbag, a pair of rose gold sandals or a shiny belt are easy ways to wear the trend.

Costume jewellery is a very simple way to give old clothes a new look. Think oversized beads, delicate chains and tasselled earrings. A plain coloured-dress or blouse is instantly updated with the addition of a pair of statement earrings or a striking neckpiece.

Wear patterns. Florals, mod geometrics and classic stripes are all in and easy to pair with a plain outfit for a fresh feel. Think a patterned blouse with a suit, a pretty scarf with a simple shift dress or even a pair of patterned shoes. The options are endless. If you’re feeling really bold, mixing patterns is very in – take a striped T and pair it with a floral skirt for a look that shouts 2019.

Add the year’s trendiest colours, coral and mustard into your wardrobe. Both pair well with the staples of black, navy and grey. You can go the whole hog and invest in a dress in one of these hues or add touches with your accessories. You’ll even find shoes in these colours they’re so hot this season.

Black and white is still as big as ever and the monochromatic look is ideal for a formal workspace. The key to making it look contemporary is to include some pattern. A bold geometric or abstract painted pattern is the height of style for 2019.

Ask Santa for a new bag in a stylish shape in genuine leather and you’ll up the overall sophistication of any outfit tenfold.
