WINTER WORKWEAR TRENDS FOR 2018

The year has flown by and winter is approaching. Instantly update your winter work wardrobe by adding a few of these trends to your cupboard.

PURPLE

Ultra Violet was announced to be Pantone’s colour of the year in December so it’s certainly having a moment. The hue that’s bang-on-trend is rich and jewel-toned, perfect for adding a touch of regal elegance to your working day. If head-to-toe purple is a bit much for you, add a pretty scarf, a cardigan or a pair of amethyst earrings to touch on the trend without going overboard.

WIDE-LEGGED PANTS

Ideal for the office, wide-legged pants are comfortable and easy to wear. Pair them with a fitted top to keep the look professional. It’s important that they are properly hemmed and always sharply ironed. Choosing a heavy fabric that holds it shape will help.

PATTERN PLAY

Mixing patterns was big this summer and the trend will follow through into the cooler months. Match a delicate floral with a geometric print or an overblown paisley with a stripe for a mod look. To tone it down for office hours, keep to a similar colour palette so that you look put together.

CORDUROY

In keeping with the fashion for all things Nineties, good old cords are back with a bang. It’s good news for your working wardrobe, though, as they tend to look neat, are warm and comfortable and can be dressed up or down depending on what you pair them with. A V-necked sweater keeps the feel casual while a tailored, collared shirt and a pair of boots smartens them up. Invest in a pair in a neutral colour and they’ll be your go-to workday or weekend throughout the season.

METALLIC MAGIC

Mixed metals are still big for winter 2018. Add a necklace, belt, or pair of earrings in a metallic for an immediate injection of glamour. If you’re a bit more daring, a blouse with a sheen or in a completely metallic colour gives any outfit an edge.

KNITWEAR

Always a winter must-have, knitwear this year is oversized and cosy. Pair a longer-length jumper with a pair of cigarette pants that taper at the ankle for a balanced look that’s clean and professional. Keeping to neutral colours ensures that the feel stays smart enough for the office.

PLAID

Check out all the checks around this season and you’re bound to find something that suits your style whether it’s the colourful nature of a traditional Scottish tartan or the more sophisticated feel of a black and white houndstooth. Wear checks head-to-toe in the form of a suit or dress or add a touch in a blouse, scarf or handbag.
